FAQs

Is this conference going to be any good?
Is ice cold?  You bet your bippy it is.  Yes, this conference is going to be great, and we can’t wait to see you there.

I'm paying with a P-card, and I would like to pay separately for my spouse/child and for my excursions. How do I do that?
It’s easy! But you will need to register two times.  First, register and pay for yourself.  If you do not want your jurisdiction to pay for your excursion, select the excursion marked, “I’m going on excursions, but will pay separately.”  Then proceed to checkout and pay with your business credit card.  After that, create a new registration for your spouse/child/best friend/whomever is joining you.  Add their excursions, and yours if you did not add it to your previous order, and any other items. Proceed to checkout and pay with your personal card.  Any questions? Email us!

I plan to pay with a check for my registration (or sponsorship). Where should I send it?
Hooray! You’re coming to the conference!  Please make your check out to Treasurers’ Association of Virginia and mail to:

Arlington County Treasurer’s Office
Attn:  Stephanie Shea
2100 Clarendon Blvd., Suite 201
Arlington, VA 22201

I'm a sponsor/vendor and want to send materials ahead of time. When can I do that and what address should I use?
Packages can arrive at the hotel beginning June 5, addressed like this:

YOUR NAME — YOUR COMPANY NAME
ATTN: TAV Conference June 12-15, Deaven Taylor
Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel
2800 S. Potomac Avenue
Arlington, VA 22202

I am a sponsor/vendor. Will I have electricity for my booth?
Yes!  Please make sure you note it when you are registering on this website (on the “cart” tab).  If you forgot, please send an email to Stephanie Shea at sshea@arlingtonva.us

What's the dress code for the various events? Do I need my top hat and tails?
TAV attendees will want to be comfortable during the days, so please dress as you wish for the educational sessions.  Wednesday night you’ll want to be comfortable (there’s dancing!), but if you want to add some bling, we won’t mind!  Thursday night we’ll be at the ball park and it could be hot, so keep that in mind.  Friday night is your night to shine!  Black tie, formal, or cocktail attire are the order of the night.  The Academy Awards red carpet ain’t got nothing on the TAV!

I'm a sponsor/vendor who has never been to the TAV Conference before. Can you give me some tidbits?
Of course, and thank you for supporting the TAV!  As a vendor,  you’ll have a table set up in the hallway near the main rooms of the conference; sponsors will be in the ballroom.  You’ll want to bring a table cloth, a banner, and whatever marketing materials you want.  If you need to fire up your laptop to demonstrate a product, you’ll have electricity at your table. Most vendors give away tchotchkes of some sort, and some also collect business cards and do a drawing for a slightly more substantial give-away on Friday (totally optional!).  Treasurers and staff want to talk to you regardless, but a little swag can’t hurt, just sayin’.

What is the flooring where the sponsors will be set up?
Carpet.

I'm bringing my family with me. What can they do while I'm at the conference?
There is so much to do and see!  To start you off, check out the What to Do in Arlington tab on this website.

I am a sponsor/vendor. Can I attend all of the events?
We hope you will!  If you are a Capitol, Washington Monument, or Lincoln Memorial sponsor, then yes, you are welcome to enjoy everything at the conference that the attendees attend, to include class sessions, lunches, excursions, dinners, and the banquet.  If you are a Pentagon-level vendor, your sponsorship includes dinner on Thursday evening, and breakfast and lunch on Friday.  If you would like to attend other meals, classes, an excursion, etc., then you can sign up for those items á la carte, or you can register as a “Non-TAV Member” (in addition to registering as a Pentagon vendor), and that will give you access to everything.  Any questions?  Email Stephanie Shea at sshea@arlingtonva.us.

I have dietary restrictions. Can you accommodate me?
Absolutely.  When you register, there are questions about food requirements and preferences.  Please note your specifics there.  You can also email Stephanie Shea at sshea@arlingtonva.us.

Will Fred Parker be there?
Hel-far, yes!

What's the difference between a dead rat and a dead tax collector found on the road?
There are skid marks by the rat.

I'm a sponsor/vendor. Will I get a list of attendees ahead of the conference?
Yes, we will email you a list of attendees in advance (precise date TBD).

I'm a sponsor/vendor. How big will my be table?
Six feet!

What are the vendor booth exhibit hours on Friday, June 14?
7am to 4:00pm.  You will want to set up the evening before at 4:00pm.  We get on the buses for the Nats game at 5:00!
